About the Ernie Nester Chapter of Trout Unlimited
About Our Chapter
The Ernie Nester Chapter of Trout Unlimited (ENCTU) was originally founded as the Kanawha Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited (KVCTU) in 1972. Since that time, its members have worked to conserve, protect, and restore coldwater fisheries across the state of West Virginia.
Hands On
The chapter actively participates in projects to study stream chemistry, restore fish habitat, and stock fingerling trout. There is always a good opportunity to get your feet wet every couple of weeks from April to October. Check out the Activities page for a sampling of our typical events.
Education
ENCTU believes that instilling an interest in fishing and conservation in our kids is essential to make sure our resources are protected in the future. Youth activities include fly casting and fly tying demonstrations at many events around the state and the Trout in the Classroom program.
Fundraising
The funding for our activities comes from multiple sources. ENCTU participates in fundraising events that include raffles, our Annual Banquet, and the sales of flies and our popular Catch and Release Guides. In addition, the chapter is fortunate to receive corporate donations for projects.
